Jordan responds to Dr. James White of Alpha and Omega Ministries.
A common objection from Calvinism against a more corporate understanding of Ephesians 1:4 is to say that this view isn't personal enough and doesn't properly account for the individualist nature of God's choosing of "us" as the direct object of the verb. This results in a caricaturization of the view as having God choosing a "plan" or a "nameless faceless group." This objection is fundamentally flawed in several ways which I hope to explain in this video.

The topic of Calvinism is something that I have personally spent a lot of time studying and thinking about for the past decade. In recent years this theology has grown a lot in popularity, being propagated by popular and prominent pastors and christian leaders like John Piper, John Macarthur, RC Sproul and ministry organizations like the Gospel Coalition, Desiring God, Ligonier Ministries and Apologia Studios.
This theology is based on a particular understanding of passages like Romans 9, John 6 and Ephesians 1, which are interpreted by Calvinists in a way that results in the conclusion that God has determined before the foundation of the world which individuals he will save and has ultimately created a countless mass of humanity throughout history for the purpose of condemning them to eternal torment in hell for committing sins that he himself determined that they commit. This may be a bit more of an abrasive and pointed way of putting it, but I think if you come to understand the claims and beliefs of the theologians mentioned above who teach these doctrines, you will see that this is an accurate and honest representation of their ultimate conclusions. I personally find the view of God that is communicated in Calvinism to be immoral and a gross misrepresentation of what the bible actually describes God to be like.
Although I do have moral and emotional apprehensions toward this theology, that is not ultimately the reason why I came to reject it. I came to reject it on biblical grounds. After examining the many Calvinistic proof texts like Romans 9 and Ephesians 1, I became convinced that Calvinists are simply misunderstanding and misinterpreting these texts. I make videos about this topic because I believe that bad theology is harmful to people - emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
My goal in making videos like this is not to demonize Calvinists who teach these things or to say they are evil heretics or anything of the sort, but to simply explain why I strongly disagree with their conclusions and offer what I consider to be a better way of understanding the many biblical texts that are often used to support these views.

This video is a response to a comment I received on a recent video which insinuated that Calvinism is the "plain and simple truth" taught in Ephesians 1:5.
Does Ephesians 1:5 plainly and clearly teach the Calvinistic doctrine of unconditional election? Has God predestined some to heaven and some to hell from before the foundation of the world as Calvinists would argue this passage teaches? In this video I look at Ephesians 1:3-5 to explain what Paul says Christians were actually chosen and predestined FOR.
When we see references to God "choosing" or "predestining" in the bible, we would do well to not immediately assume this is a reference to "initial salvation."

Is faith a good work? Is faith a gift from God that he has to decisively cause us to choose in order to get full credit for our salvation? Is faith equivalent to "righteousness"? Prominent Calvinist teachers like John Piper seem to imply by how they talk about faith that their answer to all of these questions would be "yes." In this video I talk about what the bible says about the nature of faith in response to Calvinism's claims and the many comments that I've been receiving lately on this specific point.

Shincheonji Church Of Jesus (SCJ) or the New Heaven New Earth church (NHNE) is a South Korean fringe church that is infiltrating churches across the United States in an attempt to gain new members. Many pastors around the country have testified that they have personally encountered this organization coming into their churches and starting bible studies while concealing and sometimes blatantly lying about their affiliation with Shincheonji in an attempt to deceptively lead church members to join their organization.
In this video I interview STEVE MATTHEWS who gave them a bit of a taste of their own medicine by infiltrating their church to learn more about what they teach and how they operate.

The World Mission Society Church Of God. is a South Korean based cult group that makes great boasts about being the “one true church” who alone has the truth of God and can teach the right way of salvation. Not very surprisingly, this is nearly the exact same claim that basically every other Christian-based cult makes. The WMSCOG asserts that their deceased leader “Ahnsahnghong” is the second coming of Christ in the flesh who restored the way to eternal life through the Passover. Another central doctrine for them is their doctrine about “God the Mother.” They believe that a South Korean, elderly woman named Zhang Gil Jah is a second female deity who they refer to as Mother God or Jerusalem Mother. According to WMSCOG doctrine, one must have faith in Mother God in order to be saved. With a little critical thinking, analyzing of the WMSCOG doctrines, and an honest and responsible examination of the biblical text, it can be decisively shown that the WMSCOG is nothing more than a high-control, high-demand cult group that will likely only bring you and your family emotional, spiritual, relational and financial pain and devastation.

The World Mission Society Church Of God is a South Korean based cult group that makes great boasts about being the “one true church” who alone has the truth of God and can teach the right way of salvation.
